About the Artist

Renata is a fine artist practicing between the United Kingdom and Florence. Classically trained in the atelier traditions of Italy and London, her work occupies a compelling intersection between historical and contemporary narrative, a dialogue inspired by artistic inspiration across Italy, Brazil, and the UK.

Specialising in portraiture and anatomical study, Renata is dedicated to the preservation of heritage fine art methodologies. Her practice relies on complete material authenticity: she hand-crafts her mediums from foundational elements, sourcing raw pigments, constructing traditional wood panels and canvas supports, and preparing historic sizing according to time old recipes. Her master copies and figurative works function as creative yet scientific inquiries into the technical, chemical, and anatomical precision of the Old Masters but in today's contemporary world.

Grounded in this classical discipline, Renata's current UK-based practice integrates historic craft with forward looking creative partner.

Commissions

In March 2025, the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist of the Florentines in Rome unveiled a multi-sensory exhibition in celebration of the Papal Jubilee. The display integrated rigorous scientific panels with a faithful reproduction of the Shroud of Turin. Among its artistic highlights was a meticulous, life-sized replica of the Shroud as depicted in Caravaggio’s The Entombment of Christ, executed by artist and collaborator Renata, who ensured absolute fidelity in both scale and historical pigment selection.

Every commission begins with a simple conversation. You will share the details of your idea: the desired subject (such as a live or photographic portrait, or an inspired master study), your preferred dimensions, chosen medium, reference images, and any important deadlines.

Consultation & Proposal
Once I review your inquiry, we will discuss the scope of the project, either in person or via email. I will provide a tailored proposal alongside a formal commission agreement. This outlines the timeline, pricing, revision terms, and copyright details, ensuring complete clarity and confidence before we begin.

Concept & Composition Sketch
Before applying paint to canvas or pencil to paper, I create preliminary composition sketches or studies either during an in-person studio visit or sent digitally. This crucial stage allows us to refine the balance, pose, and lighting together so the foundation aligns perfectly with your expectations.

The Creative Process
With the composition approved, the realization of your artwork begins. Whether working directly with a sitting subject in my studio or developing the piece from reference, I will share progress updates throughout the process so you can watch your portrait come to life.

Delivery & Care
Once the final piece is approved and the balance is settled, your artwork is signed and sealed with a protective varnish. If being shipped or delivered, it is carefully wrapped for safe transit, ready to be framed, hung, and enjoyed for generations to come.
